Every calculator includes a waste factor input for good reason. Concrete: add 5–8% for form slippage and over-pour. Lumber: add 10–15% for cuts and rejects. Roofing: add 10–15% on complex roofs. Pavers and tile: add 10% straight-lay, 15% diagonal. Running out mid-project costs more in delay and delivery fees than the extra material ever would.

A 2,000 sq ft footprint does not equal 2,000 sq ft of roof — pitch multiplies the actual roof surface. A 6/12 pitch adds about 12%, a 9/12 pitch adds about 25%.
